TRYING TO ALIGN A CROSLEY 5 TUBE SPECIAL 1946 WITH A SIGNAL GENERATOR.I WENT BY THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALIGNMENT.THOUGHT I WAS DOING GOOD.WHEN DONE,I ONLY CAN RECEIVE STATIONS ON THE HIGH END HALF.INSTRUCTIONS SAY TO USE A 200MMF ON ANT LEAD.I ONLY HAVE A 500MMF.ALSO,DO I NEED AN OUTPUT METER?WHAT IS AN OUTPUT METER?CAN I USE A VOLTMETER? A trick I always do is to tune the radio to a station around 600 or 700 kc. Then adjust the osc (preferably if the radio has a slug on the osc coil) back and forth, adjusting the tuning as you go, until that station comes in fairly loud.

Now, if the set doesn't have a slug on its osc coil, you can do the same as above adjusting the osc trimmer, but you have to try to find a happy medium with sensitivity between the low and high ends.

THANKS I'LL TRY IT THAT WAY .HOPE MY TUNING COND IS NOT THE PROBLEM.I WILL TRY CLEANING IT AGAIN ALSO LARRY Icon_biggrin
