Silvertone 4788 Help
#1

I need help with the tuning drive on my Silvertone 4788. It uses a rubber drive cone that is crumbled and a bit hard to get to. Doesn't help that it is rubber bonded to a metal cone.

No matter where you go, there you are.

I'd get the thing out and have a good look at it. Measure the dia and see what you can scare up at the local hardware store. They have lots of goodies in sliding drawers there. Maybe a large chassis grommet would fit the bill clean off the old rough up the metal a bit and use some super glue to hold it on.

 +1 to Terry's advice.

The hardest part will be getting it out.  You'll just have to slowing start taking it apart until you can get it out.  Make a lot of notes/drawings and take a lot of pictures so you'll know how it goes back together.

Jayce, I had a radio with a friction drive and the rubber was shot. I used a faucet washer (conical) and with a little rework on the washer it worked fine.
