New idea for insulators
#1

Have found that insulating the wires from the transformers to the tuning capacitor is a problem with Philco's and others that have shields on them.
Also used hem for any wires including power cords that pass thru chassis.
I buy them from McMaster Carr. I am sure there are other suppliers.
Works great if you don't feel like replacing the wires that connect grid caps to chassis.
I just snip one side open so that I can locate it over the wire without disconnecting wire.
Here are a couple pics.

Good idea!

Spaghetti? That's been around for 70 years.

I think he means the rubber insulators / grommets

Rubber grommets are quick and easy.
Cut on side and slip over the wire.
Have had wires shorting out on shields due to dried out and brittle wires.
Even after replacing the wires, I like to use them.

That's a GGreat ideal,,,how about the HEAT from the tube ????
#7

I will monitor that.
Probably different types of rubber that can handle higher temps.
Doesn't seem to damage the rubber coated wire. But then the Philco has cloth covered wire.
