Philco 16B 2meg volume control tone tap specs?
#1

At some point, the original 380K/30K tap volume control was replaced by a 2meg unit, but the changes pages do not specifiy what the tone tape should be. Does anyone have a 16B with the original 2meg control and can provide the resistance of the tap from the cold end of the volume control? In my radio, the circuit has been modified for the 2meg control, but a previous radio repairer replaced the original with a 500K unit with a tone tape at about 50%.

Thanks!
Dave

Hi Dave

This change was made during production of Model 16 Codes 121, 122 & 123 (the 5-band models). The newer control is part no. 33-5022, 2 meg., tapped at 400K.

The same control was used in Model 16 Codes 125, 126 & 127 (the 4-band models), and both tombstone and console versions of Model 116.
