38-690 W-6 Speaker Field
#1

I have a 38-690 with open field coil, and Riders doesn't provide a value for the resistance. Ideally, I would like to find a replacement W-6 speaker, failing that, I could use help in best method to remove old coil. Can't get to the bottom of the rivets to remove frame from horseshoe holding coil. Considering cutting off the horseshoe near frame. I located a place on the winding that looks like a tap, mesures about 200 ohm. The notes I have with this radio indicate previous owner thought the resistance was 4300 ohms...sounds really high to me.

Hi,
The field coil is 4300 ohms. The print on Nostalgia Air is hard to read. Look on the bottom of the page just to the left of the switch rotation diagram. I had to get my Rider's manual out to see it. Wish I could help you with the removal but I'm not familiar with it. I'm sure Ron or Chuck could shed some light on the situation.

Hope this helps
Terry
