so a hi voltage winding shorted to xfrm housing?
you may be able to take it apart and fix it,output leads may be crumbling like the rest of the wiring.

OK, I rewired the transformer and now the resister does not get hot. The old wire was brittle and it had crack in just the right place for voltage to jump to the chassis. I was suspicious of that 134 VAC on the center tap. Now there is just .5 to 2 VAC there.
Later I will see about aligning the radio and see if I can pick up anything.

good the you cleared the short,radio is working now?

Like I said, thanks for the help. It's receiving, just needs a few tweeks. Got a Model 60 on the back burner.
