41-280 RF xfrmer strange leads?
#1
Photo

Hi,
I just started working on a 41-280.  The pre-set push buttons won't tune any stations so I started trouble shooting.  I came across something I hadn't noticed before and was wondering if this was normal.  There are two red wires attached to a couple of the mounting lugs on the RF transformer.  But they don't go anywhere.  They are just twisted together a few times and tucked up close to the transformer.  Is this normal?  I'm not sure yet what terminal numbers they are connected to.  I'll try to attach pics of where in the schematic and parts location of the circuit and a pic of what I'm seeing on the chassis.

Hi and welcome to the Phorum,
Looks to be a gimmick cap.

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.

Now I think I've got!
