I read about a kit to convert the variable speed changer in the Philco 42-1008 into a single speed unit. That would remove the unreliable variable speed mechanism from the changer. The kit number is 45-1496.
Looking at the photo in the ad, it looks to be a rather simple kit. There appear to be a basic idler wheel, and a spring loaded arm. The motor likely needs to have the flat disk removed, and the motor relocated to be screwed to the underside of the frame with the shaft vertical rather than horizontal.
Does anyone have more information about the kit? I would like to use the kit or its equivalent on the changer in my console.
Thanks,
Alan
