370 Norman Bel Geddes trim pieces
#1

Do any of the collectors out there have for sale any of  the half round fluted trim that fits the top edges of the 1931 Bel Geddes designed cabinets?  I just got a 370 chair side that’s missing 2 sections about 8” long.  if no one has any of the original for sale, does anyone have any reproduction for sale or tips on how to make it?  it appears from photographs that I have seen that a lot of these are missing pieces of that trim, I’m pretty sure I’m not the first one too have experienced this.  Max

If you are looking to buh some pieces, you might want to palce an ad to the Markeplace/wanted ads.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

One method that some have used is to get some hardwood dowel, of the appropriate diameter, and cutting a flat onto one side to duplicate missing portions of the bead. I don't know if anyone is duplicating strips of molding for these, It could be done, but I think the way they made it was by running boards through a shaper, or molding head cutter, and then cutting it into strips, likely gluing and nailing it on.

You can get half-round moulding in various diameters at any home improvement store. That way the flat edge is uniform. - Gary

Thank you! I’ll probably use the half-round molding and tone it to match the original. Thanks for the replies!
