Tony, I agree that cloth hard to work with. What I don't like is the cloth comes folded so getting the crease out is almost impossible.

Well it’s a wrap on this 16B! I did the best job possible for me, and I have no complaints. Looking forward to get together with Paul after the holidays. I’m sure he will enjoy it for years to come. In the meantime I’ll enjoy playing. I’d say it’s up there sensitivity wise with my 38-690 and GE Colorama. The audio is superb!

Tony
It looks good, and I know what it sounds like. Good job! People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Thanks again Tony! Super Deluxe. Thanks to Radio Henry who sold it to me to begin with. Paul

Something came home today, got to have a nice breakfast/lunch with Tbone and picked up the beast, Philco 16B. Tony did a super job on a super set. I managed to lug it in and get it on it's stand. It's big, no comment from my wife yet but have a feeling I may hear "is that staying up here"? Well it is for now. A qwik sound check introduced me to the big sound of the big Philco. With a very short antenna it absolutely booms. Clear, crisp, plenty of volume. Thanks Tbone! Paul

I am sure if a blind test were performed, very few would tell this 16 from 37-116.
When I turn on mine, I am impressed every single time. Tony, Pablo, congrats to you both! People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Probably a better set than a Walton, had that discussion with Tbone in the parking lot. I am fortunate. My wife not feeling her best, resting. I can do a little dxing later. Paul

I am sure Walton (that is, the tabletop) has a smaller speaker. I think it is 8", while the tombstone 16 has 10". So even from the sound perspective, it is better.

Nice looking set, congrats!! Looking at the schematic, this has to be a good performer!

Paul, I’m glad you like it! It was really a fun set to work on. When it was aligned , all stations on all bands were just about dead on the dial. When is designed correctly, it shows itself.
I’d trade one of my brand Z consoles for one if the opportunity shows itself someday. Tony “People may not remember how fast you did a job, but they will remember how well you did it”

I'll keep my eyes open Tony, never know what turns up and we have a swap next weekend! Paul
