Hi all, Have numerous Philco tube shields for radios I'm working on from the 30's. Seems like I read some info some time ago that they were plated with zinc or a zinc alloy. Can anyone confirm this and has anyone "restored" these shields so they look close to what they were like when new? Thanks, Ken Kidd

Most likely just galvanized if that. Just make sure that the base still conducts with the sleeve if you paint 'em.

Actually, yes, they were plated...with tin.
You can get by with painting them, if you use Krylon Satin Nickel. The Satin Nickel is conductive!

Thanks for the info-will try the Krylon and see how one turns out. Ken
