Old Resistor Wattage Values
#1

Hi group -- I'm brand new to this group, and I would like some advice that may be elemental, but it's new to me. I've started rehabbing a Model 16-122 console. It is is in very good condition, all orginal, and that's the problem. 75 year old stuff has got to be replaced. I've checked the resistor values and they are all over the map-some high, some low and some on the money. Naturally enough, I guess, the resistors that are in a high current role seem to be the worst off. Here is my problem: there seem to be 4 or 5 different size resistors, from a 3 inch one down to 1 inch ones, of all different resistance values. Is there any standard watt size for these? They are color coded as to resistance and are on the parts list and schematic, but nowhere is there a watt size shown. Since this my first attempt at a radio of this vintage, what is the best way to make sure I am using a correct wattage resistors? Any advice will be most welcome and appreciated. Dick Bidwell, VA

Hi Dick,
Here are some links that may help.

These are all from Chuck Schwarks Philco website. A very valuable tool.

Good luck and I hope this helps,
Terry
