vari-cap lubrication
#1

Hey, guys. Wonder if someone could tell me what's the best lube to use on vari-cap bearings. Got one here that's really scratchy. Thanks, Ed

Anything used for ball bearings in bikes is good.
lithium grease is good.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Thanks, Mike. Have some lithium grease, so that's what I'll use. Ed

Just so you know.....a "varicap" is a whole another animal Icon_smile although in today's radios used for exact same purpose as the variable capacitor. It is in fact a diode with the PN junction capacitance controlled by the applied voltage.

Now that you mention it, I seem to remember reading about those things years ago somewhere being used in PLL systems in transceivers. Interesting piece there about how they work. Thanks for posting it. I'll just call them tuning caps to avoid the confusion. Thanks, Ed
