Obviously not original...
But first problem.. How do you get this tube out? It has a shield that will not come off.. I tried twisting, pulling, prying ETC but will not budge.. Whats the Trick?

Doesn't seem too densely packed.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Try squirting some WD40 or other penetrating oil between the tube shield and it's base, it's probably rusted on. I don't know if this is one of those but some tube shields had a sort of bayonette lock on them where you have to push down and turn to get them off, however those usually had a spring inside, alternatively you may have to rock the tube shield back and forth to get it off, but try the WD first.

Use a small flat tipped screwdriver. Insert it over one of the rivets. Give the screwdriver a little twist forcing the shield upward. Should pop right off.

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.

Now I think I've got!

Yup I am surprised you didn't.. Terry suggestion worked.. took some effort but it came off..
If that didn't work then I was going to try Arran's ..

Ok, Finished the Recap . Brought up on Variac to 117 Volts drawing about .25 Amps.. So all looks good. Started receiving stations all across dial. Sounds good.

Next waiting on some Novis polish to get cabinet back to looking good..

Quick Question Just received the Novus 1,2 3 polish.. Is it also good on Bakelite cabinets?

Skip...
#9

Well, I am not impressed with the Novus products.. It will not even take out small scratches.. Waste of Money...

Unless I am using it wrong.. Any tricks I should know of??

I have gotten good results on the clear plastic dial covers, especially when they are cloudy. If you can see the scratches they will take a lot of rubbing with the #3 product and even then i can not always get them out.

Ok, Finished this. Recapped and all out of Tolerance Resistors replaced.. Very Sensitive.

Cabinet cam out OK.. Not perfect But no to bad..
