Speaker cone swap on 70 possible ?
#1

Have two 70 speakers.
One where field coil is open, cone is perfect.
Other where voice coil is good, cone is pathetic, speaker works.

I took the pathetic looking cone off the speaker and saw that I might swap it with the perfect cone.
Edge was torn a bit under ring when I lifted it.

Issue is that I do not know if by lifting the other cone off the rim, part of it will stick to the rim and tear somewhat.
I can see in some areas the Cone has lifted smoothly away from the metal but in at some areas it is sticking .
I do not want to go any further until I get some advice here if anyone has lifted the cone off successfully and if they did anything special.  Heat, alcohol ?  Hopefully someone has lifted these with no issues.

Anyone ?

BTW my complete rebuild came right up, no issues.  Just needs a dang good alignment, stations off freq.
This forum is an incredible help !  THANKS !

You can try some acetone to loosen the glue if its stuck. Sometimes you can just use an razor knife depending on how well it is adhered to the frame. Go slow and if you use acetone give it some time to work.

Got me thinking with the acetone idea. Thanks.
To clean up the bakelites I found that goo-b-gone works well. Dries clean too.
Wonder if that would work with the speaker ?
I will experiment with the old speaker glue first that is damaged.

Or would it be easier to swap the voice coil instead? I don't know, just a suggestion.
