Philco 650 Chairside Radio
#1

I just acquired a Philco model 650 Chairside radio. Eight ( 8 ) tubes , original knobs (Yea!) and cabinet intact. I cannot locate ANY data on this radio. I also find the radio interesting as it had no grille cloths ... the outlet grills on all sides were backed by "baffle boards" ca. 1/4 inch from the inside cabinet. Unfortunately, the original speaker(s) were replaced by more moden permanent magnet type speaker.

Any and all information on this interesting radio will be greatly appreciated.

Regards, all,

Frank

Hi

Great acquisition! I had one of those a few years ago...wish I had kept it.

I have some info on the 650RX here:

I seem to recall that the separate speaker cabinet originally used a permanent magnet speaker, and it used a choke instead of a field coil.
