Akai Terecorder M7

Anybody have info? I have the owners manual. Seems to be intact. Stereo/tube amps from around 1960.

Some day, and that day may never come, I will call upon you to do a service for me. But until that day, accept this justice as a gift

Maybe electrotanya has something, I've found other stereo/hi fi equipment on there.

Sam's link above has the service manual and a parts list with multiple views of the unit including "exploded" views.

It costs nothing to sign up for hifiengine. I get manuals from there frequently and have given back once or twice by uploading manuals there.

I think I am going to get by without. My email is "reserved" at that site - whatever that means. So I can't get a password, login or new login.

But I am almost done anyway.

Ron,

Thanks

Really the only remaining issue is a clunk clunk in the take-up real. Which I am sure is a belt/ roller that has taken on a flat spot in storage. It does not noticeably affect playback audio.

Well, that is fixed too. Turns out a felt had slipped out of position.

ATP (all tests passed) and ready to go.

I recorded about a half hr. from off of my cellphone and the reproduction is very good. I am going to keep this one.

For future searches: One thing I must add is that the "mic" level  input is not really and the line level input is probably looking for somethin around 100mv or more. So it takes more input than I expected and a mic will need a preamp (probably). Using my CP input on the mic level input with both the cell and the input level at about 10% was fine. The CP turned all the way up (source) and the level set at about 90% also worked using the line input but was much more likely to have some noise (not hum) between songs. It's all about voltage (again).

Renovated Radios do carry what you need. As for the voltage, a wire should be at least 300V-rated.morzh — 11:13 PM
