Hi all,
I am recapping a Philco Model 37-623-J Battery Console . Can anyone tell me the voltages of the A,B,C batteries that I need for this radio. I am looking for a battery eliminator that would run it. Also if anyone has a clear schematic of this radio that would help as well. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi and welcome,

As a matter of fact I can. that would be 2v,90v,135v, 3v, and 9v.

Hi Terry,
Is there any type of battery eliminator that I can find for this radio to cover those voltages?

Depends on your skill level. If you conformable building one. It's not very difficult would use a couple of dry cells for the C voltages. If you have a few spare parts you could build one for $30 or so. I think AES and or RD sells battery eliminators.

Hi Radiofanatic, I have the Philco 38-643B which runs on the same batteries as your 37-623J. I use the ARBEIII battery eliminator and it works very well on my radio. I have a 7 pin socket connected to the ARBEIII for the B & C voltages and the 2 Volt leads connected to it and set to 2 volts. Ken

Ha! I know, Terry, I have been brutal on you with some of the challenges I've encountered. No, make that ALL of the challenges I've encountered! But you have the patience of a saint, my friend, and for that I'm forever grateful!
Hardly an expert on battery eliminators but I do use the ARBEIII on my Atwater Kent models 20 and 35 and it works great.

Hi Ken, I finished restoring my philco 37-623-j and have an ARBE-III . Which tubes are the A+,A-B+,B-,C+,C- connected to in the radio. can you draw me a diagram to explain how to hook it up. I am a bit confused. I dont want to blow up the tubes with the wrong voltages.
Thank you in advance
John

Hi John,
Do you have the original power cord and plug? If so if you can dig up an old 7 pin standard tube socket ( used for 2A7,6A7, 59, and 1625 I think) it should mate up to it.
I had a similar set a 37-33 just no sw coverage.

Hi John, I'm at work currently but I'll get a picture later this evening of my 7 pin tube socket connected to my ARBE III and the schematic of the 37-623J as the battery connections are the same as my 38-643B. The A+,A- terminals are set to 2.0V on the ARBE III before I connected the A+ & A- leads from the radio battery wire harness and the 7 pin plug is inserted in the socket that is connected to the ARBE III for the B & C voltages and it works great.
