Hickok 600A tube tester
#16

OK, Have been using this for a while and all was good.. I tried to turn on tonight and nothing.. NO indication on meter for Line adjust.. I checked the switch and it was good..

Anyone know what the resistance of primary of transformer should read?

I hope the transformer didn't go belly up??

I think one of the bulbs (51) is a fuse.

There is that main bulb which is never lit and which is the fuse. Right by the switch. Check that first.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Yup Did that.. Was able to get it sort of working..I think it has something to do with the power cord..If I plug it in to different sockets I get different readings.. So will replace it first to see if that's it..

Skip,
Yes, the Hickok 600 series testers are notorious for the power cord wires inside the rubber jacket crystallizing . Use at least 16 AWG.
If you strip the old jacket off after replacing there is greater than 90% chance you will find crystallized wires. Mine were bad the entire length of the cord. Manufacturing problem  Icon_e_surprised

OK replaced power cord Still same problem.. Here is what i noticed..

When you set the line adjust pot to read the right filament voltage the meter reads say X When you push p7 again meter reads different say Y But filament voltage doesn't change.. So tells me it some where in the Line adjust circuit .. something is intermittent maybe the push button.. I did clean the contacts and it seems to work OK.. I will try to draw out the line adjust circuit..
