After raining much of the week, today was sunny and in the 70s...perfect weather for spraying lacquer.
I think the 66B is now as good as it is going to get.

And the flaw in the top?

Not very noticeable now.
Is it perfect? No. Does it suit me? You betcha!
I think this is as far as I am going to go with the 66B cabinet, other than final rubdown and then reattaching the escutcheon.

Thanks. At least yours isn't painted black and silver, so you should have a much easier time of it. I envy you in that yours has the original grille cloth. That pattern was never reproduced by anyone, and Philco only used it in the 1935 model year on some of their radio models.

Yes, and the grill cloth came out of the radio nicely so I can reuse it. The back side of it is much less faded than the front so I may try take it off the mounting board to turn it around ...but that may risk damage so that is a decision for a later day.

Bonus 2018 Cabinet: Model 41-246T
I still haven't stripped my 41-KR cabinet, but I did remember this 41-246T from five years ago.
This particular Philco was a Phorum community effort, with one Phorum member furnishing a speaker for the chassis and another, a loop antenna and an unbroken escutcheon which I managed to get most of the warps out of.
I had gone as far as the first few coats of clear lacquer on this cabinet, then it was set aside for our cross town 2013 move - and forgotten until now.
So today, I finally applied the decals...

Back in 2013, I had not yet discovered that decals look better when they are applied right after toner and before the first coat of clear lacquer. Oh well, it will still look better than it did to begin with.
Later this week, it will receive more clear lacquer (to protect the decals). Then it will be wet sanded, and two final coats of clear will be applied and this one will then be finished.

After some more clear lacquer.

This was sprayed as the sun was going down and the front blushed badly due to warm temperatures and high humidity. By the time I took these photos, much of the blushing had disappeared but as you can see, there still is some blushing on the bottom trim.
I will bring it inside in a little while. If the blushing remains by tomorrow, I will hit the trim with some No Blush Plus. Otherwise this may be finished save for final rubdown.

I'm not sure what the blush is, but the cabinet looks very nice.

Blushing means that the lacquer takes on a white or grayish-white appearance due to moisture.
I went downstairs and looked at the 41-246 cabinet just before bedtime last night and the blushing was gone. It will need some more clear lacquer at least on the front as the decal lines are still very visible.
Thanks, guys, for the compliments.

I was wondering because in normal language anything with "blush" implies pinkish/reddish color, and here it didn't.
