Philco 38-690 missing Capacitor 108
#1

I am missing capacitor 108 on the Philco 38-690 radio. It does not show up on the
bottom view of the RF chassis. It is a .1 ufd, .1 ufd, .7ufd and is part number 30-4542.
I do not see it in the radio.

Has it been discontinued in some models?

Thank you,

It is a rectangular metal can mounted on top of the chassis, with three wires coming out on the underneath side of the chassis. Notice where the red arrow is pointing.

If it is missing, someone removed it. The three caps are necessary for the Magnetic Tuning to work properly.

It is probably there, just takes some time (considering it is not marked as the C108 anywhere) to understand where it is Icon_smile

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Thank you, Ron.

I failed to look at the top view chassis pictures. There it is!
