Philco 42-350 in Macy’s Cabinet with Recordchanger.

Hello everyone! I came across this Cabinet recently and I’ve been unable to find any information on it. This is the most amazing resource, I’m sure someone has seen this before and might be able to shed more light on its origin. I really would love to just know more about it, where it came from, and maybe who might have assembled it.

It is a reddish Cabinet with a small “R.H.Macy&Co.Inc. New York” medallion on the back. It contains a Philco 42-350 121 radio inside. And is has an “Oak”? Record player assembly under the lift top.

I found a tag inside that shows:
Cabinet   1453
Chassis   Philco 350
Changer  Oak

I’m posting some photos to show more about it. I brought it up first on a variac and a dim bulb tester and it works fairly decently on all bands but i can tell it needs some help, an alignment might be in order but I’ve not started anything at this time. It looks like someone has been in it before just because the power cord has been replaced and the wiring isn’t falling apart.

The record player power connection is cut and at this time I haven’t attempted to power it up at all. When I found it, the platter was raised a bit so it wouldn’t distort the drive wheel rubber. I don’t know if the ceramic cartridge works yet either.

If anyone can add anything, I’d sure appreciate it.

Buddy
