Philco BOL Demo Record
#1

Hey Folks - wanted to share what the circa 1941 Philco Beam of Light Demo record sounds like! Yes I get the irony that it is playing on my 1922 Victrola - but as soon as I get my 42-1010 up and running I'll post one of it playing on a BOL changer as it should!- Andy

Very Jealous but that record is not meant for the cactus needle...The head is 3x the weight of the BOL head...
Did I say jealous..

Just found this in a July 1940 Philco Serviceman - so I wanted to share.

Since I've never seen or heard one of these work, how do they sound? Were photo cells sensitive enough to reproduce the fine variations in light? They certainly worked for the sound of movies. Is the resistance to twisting of the crystal far greater than overcoming the inertia of the rod and mirror? Just wondering if this was more gimmick than real advantage!

Thanks Andy, neat find!
