RCA phono motor question

Hello everyone,
I am working on Some RCA 1950s Phono's and looking at buying some that tape used on motor windings ?
As you can see in my Photo how I used heat shrink and spliced the wire but don't really care for it
I thought why not just remove the tape and do a better job and add new tape

Friction tape is black cloth tape. That looks more like masking tape which would look pretty close.

Friction tape a staple of old style electric work, might be better than what was pictured. Used to use it on Hockey Stick blades.

Was a good supply at our house as dad worked at utility.

Hello Phlogiston,
Well 3M™ 28 is a printable white Acetate Cloth Tape with thermosetting rubber adhesive used for electrical insulating. This tape absorbs resins and varnishes and offers excellent conformability in coil wrapping applications.
It is electrically rated for 2500volts and 221 degrees F.
