Philco 20 deluxe refinish
#1

This 20 deluxe just got itself a new paint job, I took the liberty to do a little extra details in color that are not factory but looks sharp IMHO. Dont yell its not much, it has its own character now. The grill cloth is taped in there for choosing a pattern, its not like there making all the patterns we all need today, I wish. This stuff looks great. Thanks for looking Fred Taylor

I like it. Have to say though, not to sound critical, and don't know if it is easy to do, but the original front panel had a pronounced darkening from the outside lightening up to the center. Maybe with airbrush?

Yes looks good I can blend that darker color in and re clear , in I like it., Looked at the one in that link you sent, that's a good example of an original finish. Thanks.

Fred, you never cease to amaze me with your expertise! How did you do the accent shading between the front and the arch veneers? It's a little detail that really sets off the whole cabinet. Now if I could only talk you into moving "closer up-north" to draw on your art even further! Take care and BE HEALTHY! Gary

What GarySp said!! This is outstanding!! The shading, even if not original really sets it off!! Hey, that also could have happened with aging, right? Gorgeous job!! Was it Phlogistron that posted a recent 20 restoration where the cabinet and chassis both came out like new? Hope U have a chassis that can be made as nice as this cabinet!!

Members of this and other Antique radio sites are preserving history!! And hey, a Model 20 can survive an EMP Attack and doesn't have a local oscillator to allow tracking in case of zombie apocalypse.

Stunning finish! What did you do after your last coat of lacquer? Steel wool and wax?
