philco 39-31xf IF transformers
#1

Hi guys,
Both of my IF transformers are open and beyond repair with my skill set. I have a spare 41-180 chassis and both of those coils are good. Can I switch them out and go from 470 to 455 kHz or will that cause a whole different set of problems?   https://philcoradio.com/library/download...20Book.pdf

Thanks

There is no such thing as a 41-180. Do you mean 40-180? Or possibly 41-280?

You should be able to retune the 455 kc IF transformers to the 470 kc frequency without issue.

One thing to note, however. If your spare chassis is a 41-280, keep in mind it has three IF transformers, not two as in the 39-31 and 40-180. You will want to use the first and third IF transformers of the 41-280 to replace the IF transformers in your 39-31.

Sorry yes it's a 40-180. That's good news, I will make the switch and retune . Keep up the good fight Ron!
