Grill cloth interest?
#1

I've been chatting with Michael Katz about new grill cloth designs, and we were wondering what the interest would be in recreating the "60" cloth? Since Radio Daze hasn't had that pattern for several years, the supply has dried up. But he's worried about selling enough of it. I personally have six sets needing it now.

But I'd like to gauge the possible demand.

BTW, he now has the ribbed cloth!

That is a very pretty cloth... I was very fortunate to find some of a very similar bronze metallic pattern on eBay when I was doing my 66B. It looks good, but it would have been nice to have had a source for an exact reproduction.

It is a very common Philco pattern and I hope he will bring it back. Since many Philco sets used it, I don't think he would have any trouble selling it at all. Especially if no one else is offering it.

I would also like to see a return of Philco Model 20 cloth. And it would be great to see availability of mid-1930s RCA "wheat" cloth.

But I digress.

You can see the patterns Michael currently has available for sale here:

+1 on a return of Philco model 20 cloth. Mine was way beyond repair when I got the radio. Take care and BE HEALTHY! Gary

+1 on the Philco cloth replacement. That pattern appears to be the same on my Model 89B. My cloth is in good shape, but I'm sure it would sell very well if it is available.

Hi guys.   I found an old piece of this pattern in my "stash" of original cloth, and have just sent it in to my sales rep to have him forward it to the mill.    I'm pretty sure they can do a nice reproduction of it, and will let everyone know when I get it.   I'm guessing between 3 - 6 months, as I never know how busy the mill is.   Also threw in 6 other patterns for them to work on as well.     This mill I am getting the cloth from is doing a better job than the one I used to use.   I would also like to get some more console patterns, from all brands, and if the pattern is popular I will try to get it made.   I do need a decent size piece of the original to send to the mill though, and don't mind giving the donor a new piece in return once it's made.

Michael
