Just getting started on this 89Philco.
Helping a friend.
I have read all the post here on the 89.
I think one Coil my be open.
Any thing I should do before starting cap replacement?

With all that liquid dripping, dry it out overnight in a warm oven (170 F) if you can. Certainly a diamond in the rough. Did you run the entire chassis through a dishwasher? I've done that with tuners, but not the works. Take care and BE HEALTHY! Gary

That radio definitely hasn't had the best of storage for quite some time judging by the outward appearance. Barn find?
You will most likely find more than one open coil because of this, as conditions the chassis spent it's life in seem to determine how the coils survived on these 19/89 series, at least from my experience. And most of the dogbone resistors will be far from tolerance range.

There currently is a 89 chassis with tubes and shields available on Ebay. $97 dollars and change with shipping. I would consider this option and have a parts chassis. Just my 2 cents... Take care and BE HEALTHY! Gary

The 89 was washed by fossette outside of the facility.

Lots of grille cloth on line, when looking for vintage I usually use "vintage brocade cloth" for searching.

There are really only two places that carry true reproductions of radio grille cloth. Most fabrics you find "online" are unsuitable for use as grille cloth due to tightness of weave and also ugliness!

The closest you'll find for that cloth currently would be the Philco 70/90 cloth that Michael Katz sells (radiogrillecloth)

As for wire, RadioDaze sells very good cloth covered wire in a variety of colours, gauges and types. I stock a full rack for use in restorations.

For the line cord, I use this:
