Flea market find
#1

Hello to all!
Finally, a nice day in Wisconsin! I was out to flea market and came across this 37-610, and I gave it a new home Icon_thumbup ! A very clean little set that, with the exception of some newer tubes looks to be completely unmolested. The cord is kaput but otherwise in very good shape mechanically. The case is in excellent condition as well. No missing veneer and the "Photo-finish" (I'm guessing that is what it is) is intact with just a few minor chips.
This set is a little later than the Philco's I normally go for, so I don't know a whole lot about them. I am intrigued by the power transformer with the rectifier tube set into the top? Any specific reason for this or was it just a way to save space?
So, I guess I have another project for this winter. If anyone has any input on this model, I would greatly appreciate hearing about it! Thanks!
Kevin

Now that's a nice catch! Icon_thumbup Especially with the photofinish in such nice condition. Congratulations!

For a 5 tube set the 37-610 is a great reciever on all 3 bands. It is fairly easy to work on unless your trouble in in the RF deck. The rectifyer tube mounted on the power transformer is somthing that Philco went to on the 37 models, not sure why.

No, it's not a problem, just during certain condition it could show up. Yes, an internal tube short could do that too. ...morzh — 09:13 AM
