replace bakelite condensers on 84b ?

hi..im a newbee!
can i replace & bypass the 4 bakelite condenser blocks in my 84b with the correct value orange drop capacitors? the blocks are stamped 3793-ad .... 7762-b ..... 4989-ak ... 7625-h . if i can bypass them,should i remove them? how do i know what value caps to use for each block replacement? thanks all! this site is so great!!!

Welcome Seguida...Yes,you can rebuild them...read up on them here on.Take your time,and you can use the orange dips.

I used safety capacitors (Y2-type for line-to-ground) in mine, justradios.com recommends them for this application. Easy process, except somebody at some point put so much solder on that it took quite a while to desolder the terminals. When I finally got the thing out of the chassis, the solder pen had gotten the whole condenser warm enough that I didn't even need to use a heat gun to get the tar plug out...just stuck a straightened paperclip inside and the whole thing came right out.
