BC Resistor
#1

I'm in the process of restoring a model 90. The BC resistor started to smoke when powered up.  Not the whole thing, just the last section right to left.  I'm not sure if the whole thing needs to be replaced or just that section. Looking for guidance.  Thanks Allan

As a rule resistors don't burn up for no reason. You need to diagnose what caused it to burn up.

BTW, there are three basic varieties of 90 - which output tubes do you have?

Hi and welcome to the Phorum,

Agree w/Dale. If you can check the resistance of the smoldering section you may find that the resistance value is OK. If so I wouldn't replace, general wire wound resistor are pretty hearty and can take some abuse. But figure out the cause.

Early models P/P 45's, mid model single 47, late model P/P 47's.

figure out what all those squiggly meant.

Now I think I've got!

I response to your question of what version I'm working on...it's the model with 2 #45 tubes.
