Philco 16B Parts
#1

Hello, I'm looking to buy a 16B but I'm not so sure of what I am looking at. First as seen from the picture it looks like the shadow mask and pilot light are missing. Also I notice the speaker wire has been replaced so maybe there is a partial or full restore. Also looks like the speaker plug/socket are gone. If the shadow mask is missing I assume that would be pretty hard to find as well as the pilot light. I have never seen a 16B other than pictures but would like to get one to restore. Lastly is this a 16B as there are no markings shown that it is a 16B.

Thanks,
Dan

I think the chassis is painted.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Hi Dan,

Mike is correct, there's a lot of painted stuff on the chassis but it looks pretty good. The sm is all there, spkr has been rewired, and the spkr never had a plug on the B model just a cardboard insulator at the chassis hole. I think I see the dial lamp clipped in place. Originally id tag it would have a gold sticker on the back of the chassis but a lot of times they come off. It's a 1933 16 code 121 5 band model.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the radio was removed before bidding was over so I didn't get a chance to bid.

The 16B's in the tombstone cabinet sport a 10 1/2" spkr vs the older cathedral sets which uses an 8". The p/p 42's really give the 8" spkr beating not so much with the 10 1/2". They're lumbering a long.
