46-420 Code 125 Replacing Cap with wire coil
#1

I am in the process of recapping this "Hippo" and ran across this cap with wire coiled around it. It is an original Philco cap stamped with .2mfd 400 wv.
Here is a picture of the cap.

Can I use just a regular .22 mf mylar cap to replace and what do I do about the coil?

Thanks- this is my first post here so I hope I did this correctly,
Frank

Hi,

We've been discussing this same part in this thread:

Hopefully this will help you as well.

Thanks Ron, I may try just replacing with .22 leaving the coil off and see if it creates any problems. If it does I'll have an idea what might be causing them.
Frank
