Ultra Rare Kutztown Find
#1

Kutztown was great as usual but I came across this rare little guy around the perimeter of all the action. It's a rare chairside with a 118 chassis. With only 500 made my chances of finding the speaker attachment is about as good as Ron Paul getting elected president I won't quit looking though! Maybe I can hook one up inside?

Note from site admin: Sorry, but the photo which was attached to this post is no longer available.

Thanx Phil! It was only 60 bucks and I too had never seen one either until I literally stumbled on it....

Welcome...and Very nice catch! Icon_thumbup Very good price, too.

I once had the separate speaker cabinet that matches your set, but I later sold it. If I still had it, I probably would have sold it to you. Sorry. As you know, the separate speaker cabinets for any of the 1933-36 Philco chairside sets are very hard to find.

I can tell you that the separate speaker cabinet which went with your 118RX used a PM speaker inside. I seem to recall that there was also a small box that contained a choke to substitute for the field coil used in most 118 models.

A skilled woodworker like Kenny Richmond or Steve Davis could probably make a replica, if he had several photos and the original dimensions. You can see an original here:
