Philco 37-116 Grille Cloth
#1

Hello, Anyone know where I can get the V grille cloth for a 37-116. Best I can find is 20.5 X 25. I think I need 24 X 24.

Thanks,
Dan

He is also at the Kutztown show every time.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

He sells a combo pack for the 116; you have to do the replacement in three pieces as there is no 24" wide cloth currently being reproduced.

Thank you for the info guys.

Dan,

For what it's worth, I added a piece of thin plywood over top of the original board the grill cloth was glued to and bolted the lot to the cabinet.

I did this to bridge the gap over the two holes on the bottom left/right for the "acoustic clarifiers". There's no place to glue either the center piece of cloth or the side pieces. You can see from the outlines of the grill openings on the plywood. I'm not sure how others handled this. Maybe they're just more smarter that I am Icon_biggrin?

There it is, all 3 pieces glued into place.

I did not know the v pattern was on the acoustic clarifiers as well. I've got my cloth but have not fitted it to the board yet. So now I know.

Here's a picture of the original grill cloth. You can see that it's wider and the chevron repeats on each side, centered over the right and left clarifier openings. A single piece of the original would span the entire board and could be tacked down along he edges.

You can see the outlines of the clarifier openings in the original cloth. The side chevrons are centered beneath the center grill bar of each clarifier opening.

Greg, I noticed on your original the right side V is going up where the left side is going down. Your new version they are both going down. I kind of like them going up. Not sure what I will end up with. I am about to do mine today.

The way I mounted the new cloth matches the look of the original, a V in each clarifier opening, not an inverted V.

Can't think of anything witty.
