My Philco 39-25
#16

My first Philco is a 41-250 I believe it’s called a log cabin. It is one of my best performing sets. I bought it at Kutztown but not at the swap meet but from Louis inside Renningers market. It was one he had but never got around to restoring.

Arran the Channel Master I have is a red plastic case with a leather carrying case. I have the schematic for it but off hand I don’t think it has an RF amp. I just remember using it as a kid to listen to a Buffalo station, WKBW at night. Back then they played great music if you like Rock which I do. They would play the 17 minute version of In-A-Godda-Davida, Iron Butterfly and other greats. I think they made a 6 transistor and 8 transistor version, don’t remember what version mom’s radio was but this one is only a 6.

Mike, you do have a great series of Philcos, especially the “16” series. I do have a Hippo Philco too. My last acquisition is a Philco 20 still waiting for attention, also have a 70 I finished some years ago and now need to find 90 to complete what I refer to as the trifecta of Philcos. Ktown is coming up so we will see. Would love to score a Walton but they’re insane prices.

MrFxr, thanks for the kind words. I have to say wow when you put things in perspective and see how people can blow money on some nonsense, I guess my spending what I did on this radio isn’t bad considering I might go a year without finding another project. I am not what you call a drinker so don’t get drunk but we did spend a bundle on a cruise to Bermuda 2 years ago and while I am not a hard core drinker, the cruise came with an unlimited drink package and let’s just say I was feeling no pain! As for radios in my family, when I got married and moved I should have taken some of them but I left them there with my sister who inherited the house that use to first belong to our grandparents. When she sold the house and moved, she cleaned out everything and unbeknownst to me she threw out the radios and even an old Lionel train set that was mine Icon_eek  Icon_redface There was an antique windup record player console in the attic that was my grandparents and a different sister took it because I had no room, it’s large, but it would have been nice to have. It still sits in her basement untouched which the brother in law isn’t happy about! I always wanted a mid 60s Lincoln convertible with the suicide doors but ended up with a 72 Continental Towncar, loved that car. I was only 24 when I bought it, never was one for muscle cars like most young guys, always liked big land yachts and still do. If you could post a pic of that Lincoln that would be great!
