About to touch up a 14B Baby Grand cabinet, and I wonder about the colors used originally. Was the base Perfect Brown? Walnut and Dark Walnut toning laquers for the cabinet?

It looks like the 14B shared cabinets with the 18B, I have a feeling that the 18B was more popular, this gallery page has pictures of both, the 14B is sort of monotone, but the 18B is not. https://philcoradio.com/gallery2/1933c/#Model_14B https://philcoradio.com/gallery2/1933c/#Model_18B
I'm not sure whether all the 14Bs were finished this was or if the lacquer is just sun faded, Philco's cabinet shops seemed to deviate a great deal in how they finished cabinets, but in most the molding was darker then the rest. Regards Arran

Thanks, Arran, it looks like “monotone” is the most accurate in the few photos I’ve seen.

I guess the point being is that you may have some leeway about which finish is considered original if you have nothing else to go by. Personally I like the way the 18B cabinets in the gallery were finished, but it's entirely possible that others of the model received that sort of monotone brown treatment like the 14B that is pictured.
