Bartered for a 1940 Firestone Air Chief
#1

Morning! I’ve talked a little bit about it, but I bought a Sonora radio last year For $3. I have a thread about it: Sonora Radio

I haven’t done very much with it, other than get the speaker reconed. Anyway, I had helped a coworker get a radio. His intention was to gut it out, and build a computer inside of the cabinet. The knobs would have various functions for the computer (power on/off, fan speed, etc.). This is the one I helped him purchase, for $5.

It’s clearly a Firestone Air Chief, but I wasn’t sure of the model. Based on some online research, it looks to be a 1940 model S-7403-8: Radiophile

I quickly became attached to the Firestone, and didn’t want to see it become a computer. It’s very art deco. To my good fortune, it was too shallow for a motherboard. I traded the Sonora, to keep the Firestone. He’s able to use the cabinet for the Somora because it is deeper.

How neat! I’m excited to restore it, but there’s a couple more in front of it.

I have one very similar, slightly different cabinet. I bought it for $5 from a TV guy/friend ... and I brought it home in the basket of my bicycle! I was probably 10 or 11!

If I could find the place called "Somewhere", I could find "Anything" Icon_confused
