Has anyone ever seen this Philco 16 before?

That's a custom-made aftermarket job - NOT a factory issue.

It's an original non-factory, custom cabinet.
Many cabinet shops of the time offered custom cabinetry
for radios from many mfrs.
Very nice design on this one - probably one of a kind.

Thanks Guys, It sure looks nice. Of course it'll be way out of my price range.

How was a custom radio like this ordered? Could you just order a chassis and speaker from the factory or did someone have to buy the cabinet and then throw it out?

I have scant info on the "custom cabinet" subject. I do not know if individuals could purchase just the chassis and speaker but I doubt it. True, one COULD have a custom made cabinet made for their radio (Independent Radio comes to mind, with several different choices of cabinets).

The point I was trying to convey is to be aware that this, as a complete unit, is not a legitimate factory issue.
