Scored two more.
#1

I was at an antique mall in Columbus and a 17" Predicta followed me out of the store for less than 70 clams. It is a transformer set, complete with totally dead CRT and many hack repairs. It was hidden enough to where I almost missed it. When I saw the price, I thought I was going to have a heart attack.

On a recent trip to Cleveland, I got a 17" console, possibly from the early 50's. Since I didn't bring the CRT tester and variac, it's untested.

These two, and three of another make (the "Z" word) bring my total count to 44 sets. I also found a tricolor CRT for one of my other sets that had a gassy CRT. With any luck, a Philco color set will follow me home.

Good going, Dave. Sounds like you did well on that Predicta Seventeener. You must have quite a collection.

44 and counting. My color collection is now officially 12 sets. I have a Sylvania hybrid set that is now counted since it has some tubes in it. It'll be a while before I can photograph that one. Once I have 2 portables done (I need lytics), one of my Philco sets will be next.

Hi BIG DAVE, BOBC here, looks like a great collection on your site. You should drive down to Cincinnati, there's always some great old televisions at an antique mall called the Brass Armadillo. I was just there today (10/24) and saw an old Crosley, an old Philco set and others, usually in one particular booth. It's easy to find, follow 71S to 275 west. continue on 275 west about 5 miles and exit on 747 North. About 3/4 mile north, you turn right on Crescentville road, drive about 300 yards and the Brass Armadillo is on your left. Hope you find something you like, if you ever come down!! Best of luck, and happy collecting BOBC

I will definitely have to check that out. If the price is right, there is always room for Philco here.

As soon as two portables of non-Philconess are complete (hopefully this weekend), one of the remaining 5 Philco sets I have is up next. It's narrowed down to my Transitone portable or my swivel consolette. The Predicta has a totally dead CRT and the other is not at my present location. I'm leaning toward the consolette.

I have started recapping the blond console. I think the couplates are going to give me a headache. I'll know more after the recap and soft start.

Dave,

This is just a shot in the dark, but do you still have the RCA MODEL 6-T-64 and would you be willing to part with it? This set for many reasons has some good memories for me. I have several old tv sets unrestored that maybe you'd be willing to trade for this one. If interested EMAIL me.

Thanks, but I want the challenge of getting the RCA looking showroom new. Try placing an ad at the ETF classifieds.
