Phorum How-To #15: How To Post to the Phorum
#1

Just in case this isn't obvious, here's a quick tutorial on how you can make posts to the Phorum.

NOTE: Be sure you are logged in to the Phorum before attempting to post. You will not be allowed to post anything unless you are logged in.

1. Find the section of the Phorum where you want to place your post.

Go to the Phorum home page at https://philcoradio.com/phorum/ where you will see the Phorum home page:

For the purposes of this lesson, we are going to pick Philco Home Radios. So click or tap where it says Philco Home Radios as outlined in the image above.

2. Do you want to start a new thread?

On the first page of the Phorum section where you want to start a new thread, click or tap the button labeled Post Thread (the button which the arrow is pointing to).

[Image: https://philcoradio.com/images/phorum/Ph...15_002.jpg]

You will then be presented with a page that looks like the following:

Type your post in the empty white box. You can use smilies as seen above the white box if you wish by simply clicking or tapping on one (or more).

When you are finished, click or tap the Post Thread button (arrow is pointing to it).

Voila, your new thread is started.

3. Do you want to reply to a current thread?

Let's say you are looking at the thread Setting up my new Chairside! in Philco Home Radios.

Click or tap the button labeled New Reply (the arrow is pointing to this button in the image just below). Note that there is another, identical New Reply button near the bottom of the same page, also on the right. It is not shown here.

A new page will open up, with an empty white box in which you may type your reply.

When finished, click or tap the Post Reply button (the arrow is pointing to the correct button).

Your reply will be posted.

NEW MEMBERS PLEASE NOTE: When you first join the Phorum, do not forget that your first two posts must be approved by an administrator or moderator. When you click or tap Post Reply, you will be greeted by the following:

[Image: https://philcoradio.com/images/phorum/Ph...15_006.jpg]

This message will go away after a few seconds and you will be returned to the thread you replied to. Your reply will not be visible to you, but it is visible to administrators and moderators. Please be patient. As soon as an admin or mod can respond to it, it will be checked and approved and everyone - including you - will then be able to see it.

Do not make repeated posts thinking that will make it appear. It will not be visible to you until approved. Again, be patient and understand that an admin or mod will take care of it as soon as possible.

4. A quicker way to reply to a thread:

Use the Quick Reply box:

Type your reply in this white box under the bar labeled Quick Reply.

When finished, click or tap the Post Reply button under this box to post your reply. Again, if you are a new Phorum member and have not made more than two posts yet, your post will not appear until it has been approved by an admin or mod.

Hopefully this will be of some help to you as you post and reply to posts in the Phorum. Icon_smile
