Philco 37-89
#1

Hi All...
This is my first post and I'm looking for some information on a Radio that I got. It's a Philco Model 37-89. I'm ultimately looking to sell it, but I'd like to learn more and perhaps a range to ask for it. It does power up and I'm able to tune in 2-3 channels...Any info is appreciated.

Value depends on the radio's condition, both cabinet and chassis/speaker. If the set is original do not recommend that you turn it on again,as 70+ year components are not reliable and if they go they may cause other difficult parts to be ruined.

Recommend you go on eBay to completed auctions to see what others have been willing to offer for your model.

Hi Ra5451

Which version of the 37-89 do you have? Cathedral (rounded top), tombstone (flat top table model), or console (floor model)?

Can you post or furnish photos?

Agree with TA's suggestion about checking eBay prices, but keep in mind that sometimes eBay prices can be inflated over "real world" prices.

The finish is wrong. Looks like stain was used and the original photo-finish has been stripped off.

The price you are asking for it in ebay is too high.

In it's current condition it is probably worth 40-60 dollars.

TA...thankx for the info...I know nothing about these radios...

Not to mention wrong grille cloth, although reproduction grille cloth is no longer available.

Let's see what the cabinet is supposed to look like. Take a look at this late version 1937 model 37-60B (same cabinet):
