Model 52C (51, 52, 551) C23 Values?
#1

I am restoring a Philco model 52C. I wish to restuff C23 which has 5 bypass caps inside. But the schematic does not list values for the 5 C23 occurrances on the schematic - the values are listed in the parts list, but I cannot figure out which values is used for what purpose. I suspect that leakage would prevent capacitance measurement of each wire as it is removed - leaky caps seem to measure high on my HP973 DVM and also on my TO-4 cap tester.

Does anyone know of the values for:
- Output tube grid bias filter
- Detector plate filter
- Detector screen bypass
- Detector cathode bypass (I'd guess 0.5uf used here)
- RF/IF B+ bypass

Thanks!
Dave

Perhaps the schematic here would shed some light.

Baring that, try Chuck's site http://www.philcorepairbench.com/
and order a copy of the service documentation.

Neither Riders or the schematic on philcoradio.com has the values for C23 - already checked that as well as searching the forums. I would hesitate to order service documentation at this time, since it's not clear that would answer the question. Maybe someone can confirm, and if that's the case, it would be worth it!

Thanks,
Dave

My documentation is complete copied from Philco original service bulletins and service lit. Icon_smile

See all the details of what's in a typical info packet on my SCHEMATIC INFO page. C23 is the multi-cap metal can condenser block.
