Model 84
#1

Anyone aware of a production change where capacitor #32 was eliminated from the circuit? I have one that shows no signs of it ever being mounted on the chassis.

Hi,

Nothing in any of the pertinent Production Change Notes mentions the elimination of that bakelite block (0.015 uF).

It's a bypass cap as far as function, so I'd add it back. If you can't find a suitable bakelite block, then mount a 2-point terminal strip there to mount the new cap.

I assume the screw mounting hole is there in the chassis between electrolytic cap 29 and bakelite block cap 28, inline with the 80 tube socket if you want to restore the chassis to original.

The note on Ron's schematic http://www.philcoradio.com/tech/images/84.jpg indicates that the cap was only used in early production.

Kind regards,
Terry
