Model 84 Cabinet
#1

Did this cabinet come with an arch support? I don't see anywhere on the inside that there was a support at one time.

Not in the way that most Philco cathedrals had a rear arch.

Most if not all Model 84 sets used a thin strip of white wood, perhaps around 1/16" to 1/8" thick and 1-1/2" to 2" wide, around the top back of the cabinet in lieu of a stiff rear arch which was used in larger Philco cathedral cabinets.

Thanks Ron. The strip you mentioned is there. Now what sort of wood/veneer was used for this cabinet?

Hi Jim

Walnut veneer over a "white wood" base.
