Philco 41-265 Output Transformer 32-8116N
#1

I am restoring a 41-265 console and I have a defective OPT with a shorted primary to secondary (all leads disconnected). The Hammond 125ASE looks like a likely replacement being 2500-10K primary with a 4 ohm connected secondary and physically is almost the same size as original. Is this a good choice for a single ended type 41 tube or is there a better choice?

Dan,
Yes, the Hammond 125ASE will work fine for your 41-265. The 125ASE is rated at 25ma/3 watts. The 41 tube at a plate voltage of 200 volts has an output impedance of about 9K. Therefore, the 10K tap will work well. The 41-265 with a approximate Plate voltage above will have a max. output of about 2-2.5 watts. If you want more headroom you can always go with the 125BSE but probably not needed. John

John,

Thanks for the reply. The 125BSE is physically too large to fit under the chassis but would fit above it as there is a lot of room there. To keep the cost down I will order the 125ASE. Thanks again for your input. Dan
