Philco 40-140T
#1

Well, I figure it's time to post about a Philco radio; so, here's a Philco model 40-140T that I picked up at the flea market. It's was actually sitting on an outside table and playing when I arrived. The owner didn't know what to ask for it. I offered $35 and he said he had more than that in it. With tax, it ended up costing me $58 and some change. I know that was probably a little high; but, had I bought the same radio off ebay or one of the radio forums and factored in shipping cost, it would have probably run close to that amount.

Even though the radio plays, I still wouldn't trust it because it's only had just enough repair to get it going and that looks to have been done a long time ago. Also, someone hacked in a newer speaker and a newer power transformer. Fortunately, I think I have a junk chassis with the correct power transformer and maybe the correct speaker.

I figure that it will be a good performer when it's restored. Here's a video I made of the radio.

Neat little set, congrats.

And chances are it would have arrived at your home in pieces instead of intact. That's been my luck lately with a couple eBay items...Icon_rolleyes
