Philco 14B
#1

Hi all,
New to the forum. I recently picked up a cathedral baby grand Philco 14 B. I can't find a lot of information about it. I had it recapped and it plays very nicely and the cabinet is in great condition. Picked it up for $100.00. I thought that was a great buy.

HI Det and Welcome to the Phorum!!

Your 14B is a nice looking cathedral. I like this case style with the stepped front. I have an 18B which uses the same cabinet. Here is a link to the gallery where you can find more information on your set.
I am sure others with chime in with more information for you.

Hi and welcome!

The following link will take you to all the info I have on the 14B:

As Gene said, the 14B is identical in appearance to the early 18B; I also have an 18B. I would say that you did OK at $100 for your 14B. Icon_thumbup

Hi Det & welcome to the Phourm!
I'd say you got a good deal on that set! Especially with a good looking cabinet. I've got the 14MX that was Philco's venture in the "Moderne" look for 1934. It's shown in the Gallery as the first set listed under Jan '34. So in '34 Philco also produced a model 60 and 66 Moderne. Here's a little write up on it from another site. http://www.tuberadioland.com/philco14MX_main.html Not my set but wish it was!
Glad to hear that your set is up and running! I haven't gotten to mine yet and it needs a fair amount of cabinet work along with the electronics Electrically it is a wonderful set with a lot of features. RF amp, Shadowgraph, Low distortion class A audio output stage all in a nine tube chassis.
