Saw a 39-80 Over the Weekend

It was in poor condition, no grill cloth, bad finish decay, chipping veneer, broken dial glass, etc. when I was picking up a Truetone D1952 console I had bought.

What caught my eye (other than the very small chassis/very tall cabinet with inclined dial board) was what appears to be AM and longwave only dial coverage.

Found out a little more about it today. Looks like this was a farm style battery powered console. Strange, but that fits for where I saw it. No interest in it and it showed up on CL today it looks like:

That's not longwave, it's the AM band in meters wavelength.
