40-150 cabinet questions
#1

Hey all,
So, after having rebuilt the chassis, it's the cabinets turn! the cabinet overall is in pretty good condition, no loose veneer or major chips or dings. The finish was so/so but the original decals were in poor shape, so I decided to redo the finish. My questions here are 1- What would be the closest match colorwise? I am using Mohawk Ultra Classic toned laquer. 2. Does anyone have a recommendation for what color/type of paint to use for the dial escutcheon? thanks!

The escutcheon color that was recommended to me (and I found quite successful) was Plasti-Kote Odds 'n' Ends fast-dry enamel, #139S, brass. I've only found it the one time and don't recall where (I think it may have actually turned up at my small-town hardware store), but the cap now has 'Philco Gold' written across the top.

Plasti-Kote doesn't seem to be offering the Odds-n-Ends brand but they do have a fast enamel spray with the same designation 139-S "brass" that you might try.
http://www.plasti-kote.co.uk/Product/pco...ode---6751 (Icon_redface after posting this note I tried to find who sells it and I think it may only be in the UK: http://www.ffx.co.uk/tools/product/00719...0ml%20139S , the US catalog doesn't seem to include the product http://www.plastikote.com/pdf/catalog_09_29_10.pdf )
